Freshman Year

  • Meet with the Career Center Director twice within the first semester, and twice within the second semester to begin career planning process, utilizing FOCUS2 and CSE Connects profiles.
  • Attend two Backpack to Briefcase workshops of choice during each semester.
  • Become actively engaged in one campus club or organization of choice, or become a CSE student employee, or engage in a sustained documentable volunteer experience.
  • Maintain regular meetings with academic advisors as agreed upon by advisor and student.
  • Optional - become paired with a Mentor in the CSE Mentoring Program.
  • Engage in at least one diversity-related event during each semester. (The CSE Diversity Committee identifies those events designated "diversity-related.")
  • Earn a minimum of 2.75 overall GPA.

Sophomore Year

  • Meet with the Career Center Director twice within the first semester, and twice within the second semester to continue career planning process, utilizing FOCUS2 and CSE Connects.
  • Maintain regular meetings with academic advisor.
  • Attend two Backpack to Briefcase workshops of choice during each semester.
  • Continue active engagement in one campus club or organization of choice, or continue/become a CSE student employee, or engage in a sustained volunteer experience with a connection to the student's scope of preparation.
  • Engage in at least one diversity-related event during each semester. (The CSE Diversity Committee identifies events designated "diversity-related.")
  • Become paired with (or continue initial pairing) a Mentor in the CSE Mentoring Program
  • Maintain a minimum 2.75 overall GPA.

Junior Year

  • Engage in a minimum of one academic credit or 0-credit internship in the student's scope of preparation. Internship must be for a minimum of five weeks with agreed-upon learning outcomes. Student tutoring/teaching experience and/or faculty approved research projects can be substituted for internship. The internship must be completed during the fall, spring, or summer of the junior year.
  • Attend the following Backpack to Briefcase workshops: Preparing for the Mock Interview, the Mock Interview Experience, Networking or Not-Working and one Career Fair.
  • Meet regularly with academic advisor.
  • Continue to be an active Mentee in the CSE Mentoring Program to ensure that you are paired with a professional mentor throughout the Junior Year.
  • Meet with the Career Center Director twice each semester in order to learn job search or graduate school strategies as well as the advantages of a social media presence for professional purposes, and increased network connections within the student's scope of preparation.
  • Maintain a minimum 2.75 overall GPA.

Senior Year

  • Engage in an internship (for academic credit or 0 credit) and/or faculty approved research project or student teaching experience.
  • Attend the following Backpack to Briefcase workshops: Mock Interview Experience, Networking or Not-Working, and Career Fair.
  • Meet with the Career Center Director twice each semester in order to gain advanced knowledge of job search process and networking connections or graduate school information/applications. One meeting with the faculty advisor that specifically addresses job search and/or graduate school application can be substituted.
  • Conduct an effective job search, beginning in the fall semester. Effective job search will be defined by the Career Center Director and/or designated faculty. Students will be required to report on actions taken and outcome.
  • Graduate with a minimum overall GPA of 2.75.
  • Upon graduation, student has no outstanding debt to the College.
  • Success is achieved when the student is offered one job that is within the student's scope of preparation or acceptance into one graduate program within six months after graduation.

Following Graduation

  • Meet all requirements of the Agreement for the six-month period following graduation.

Unless otherwise noted, all deadlines are Friday before final exams for each semester.
