The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at the College of Saint Elizabeth is designed to prepare globally conscious and morally purposeful servant leaders. The Ed.D. program offers two tracks: the Pre-K to 12th Grade Track and the Higher Education Track.

Program Overview

The Ed.D. track for higher education leadership combines theoretical knowledge and practical application in an authentic higher education setting utilizing the candidate's professional experience in higher education. It is a sequenced, 50-credit program to be completed during a three-year time frame.

ED CHOICE: Flexibility = Student Success

New Options for Learning Provide Maximum Flexibility

ED CHOICE is a new and unique program delivery model designed to meet the needs of students in the real world, where life commitments sometimes interfere with classroom demands. ED CHOICE allows doctoral students to fulfill commitments while earning a doctoral degree.

Each week students choose to attend class on campus or online. There's no fear of falling behind in class work, or disappointing a child because of missing his or her school play or soccer game.

ED CHOICE offers students total control over how to experience the coursework leading to the successful completion of their degree.

This new program model features:

  • The same professor for on-campus and online learning options
  • A weekly ability to switch from on-campus to online, and vice versa
  • A smooth and uninterrupted path to your doctoral degree

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of the doctoral program in Higher Education Leadership, candidates will be able to:

  • Commit to and act upon the principles of servant leadership.
  • Demonstrate their role to prepare both themselves and the learning community to build a just society.
  • Identify, promote, and sustain high performance learning communities.
  • Apply research methodologies for systemic improvement of schools and other educational communities and institutions.
  • Analyze and articulate the individual and social purposes of education.
  • Evaluate the role of servant leaders as stewards of both human and fiscal resources.

Admission Requirements

Applicants for the Doctorate Program in the Higher Education track are required to:

  • Applicants must have earned a M.A. degree or any post-master's credit from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Have a satisfactory degree of professional applied experience in higher education.
  • Your required Letter of Intent should be no more than two pages, citing evidence as to why you should be admitted to the doctoral program, including reasons why you chose College of Saint Elizabeth and illustrating your commitment to degree completion.
  • Submit official transcripts of all graduate and undergraduate work.
  • Submit a resume and completed application form.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation from professionals who can comment on your qualification for doctoral study; at least one letter must be from a professor attesting to academic capability and at least one must be from a practitioner attesting to professional capacity.

Selected applicants are invited to interview with the Program Chair for Educational Leadership.
