Pinning Ceremony Readies 90 Nursing Students for Graduation

Morristown, N.J. (May 7, 2019) – Donna Estes, RN, BSN, '19, wanted to be a nurse since she was 12 years old and received her associate's degree in 1977. Forty-two years later, she is receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of Saint Elizabeth.

Estes was the student speaker for the 2019 CSE nursing pinning ceremony that is a rite of passage for all those pursuing a career in nursing because it symbolizes their dedication to healthcare.

"I never considered getting my bachelor's degree because I never wanted a managerial position or be a supervisor. I was satisfied with being a nurse," Estes said. "But times have changed."

Like many adult students, Estes was juggling the demands of a full-time job, children, grandchildren and aging parents when she began her CSE journey.

"The atmosphere in college was warm and welcoming like a family. And I will forever be grateful," she said. "The professors at CSE not only expanded my knowledge, but also expanded my vision of what can be possible."

Dr. Helen J. Streubert, president of the College of Saint Elizabeth, recognized the significant accomplishments of the graduating students.

"With your degree in hand you can use this credential to advance your career and continue to be the caring professionals that I know that you are," Streubert added. "Individuals who make a difference in the lives of patients and their families."

A total of 90 CSE students are graduating this year with either their Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing (see list below).
