Student
volunteers are strongly encouraged to use public transportation
or carpooling when possible. If neither of these options is
available and a student does not have a car, the Center for Volunteerism and Service-Learning maintains two minivans to assist students in getting
to approved community service projects.
Procedure
Take your license
to the Center for Volunteerism and Service-Learning so a copy can be made and kept on
record. Fill out a waiver form for insurance purposes and
complete a reservation request form at least two weeks before
needing the van. If you have a set volunteer schedule, you
can reserve a van for the appropriate days and times for the
duration of the semester. The vans are available on a first
come first served basis. Although we will do our best to accommodate
your volunteer schedule, transportation can not be guaranteed.
Guidelines
All van drivers are required to follow these guidelines:
Replace the
gas you've used.
Remove all
trash and personal belongings before leaving the van.
Make sure the
van is parked in a legal/authorized parking space at all
times.
Record mileage
on the Van Mileage Log kept on a clipboard by the driver's
seat.
Return the
key to the Center for Volunteerism and Service-Learning within 24 hours of using the
van.
Report any
mechanical or other problems with the vehicle to the Center for Volunteerism and Service-Learning director.
The Center for Volunteerism and Service-Learning reserves the right to limit or deny a student or club's
future access to the van if the above guidelines are not followed.
The Center for Volunteerism and Service-Learning may cancel the use of the van if we think
driving may be dangerous. Always use your discretion as to
whether or not you feel comfortable driving.
