The
Students Take Action Committee (STAC) is a student run volunteer
group at the College of Saint Elizabeth. Under the guidance
of the Director of the Geraldine Doyle Riordan Center for
Volunteerism and Service-Learning, this organization meets biweekly to plan
and implement a variety of service activities. Examples of
activities which this active club has organized include: toiletry
drives for battered women, holiday visits to local hospitals
and nursing homes, the creation of a partnership with developmentally
disabled adults and fundraisers for various charities. New
and exciting volunteer events are always being added to the
roster of activities available on and off campus. This popular
club is open to all interested students.
STAC Officers
for 2002-2003 are:
Rachel Purcell
- President
Deanna Micallef - Vice President
Judy McIntyre - Secretary
Carolyn Neabauer - Treasurer
Meetings
STAC meeting are held every other Wednesday in the Drama Studio
in lower St. Joseph's Hall. Meetings usually run about 45
minutes and are open to all students. These meetings serve
as a venue to inform students about upcoming events, as well
as a time when students come together to work on projects.
For example, students have used meeting times to design flyers
to advertise a winter coat drive, make gifts for local senior
citizens and put together kits for displaced children. If
you would like to participate in a STAC event, but can not
make the meetings, please contact one of the STAC officers
or the director of Volunteerism and Service-Learning.
