Explorientation Highlights!
9 am - 1 pm: Gear Up!: Morning Activities
Welcome to Orientation 2011! You will be starting your journey in the Gym in Saint Joseph Hall. Resident students can then proceed to their Residence Hall to check-in and move-in! Did you really need to bring all those supplies? Don't worry: we have a team of CSE staff and students who will assist you to make sure the check-in process runs smoothly and so you can begin unpacking quickly! If you are not moving into our Residence Halls, feel free to scout out the campus, visit the bookstore, lounges and gardens or go directly to lunch.
9 am - noon: Border Pass: ID Photos
Last chance for ID photos! This is your only chance during Orientation to get your CSE ID card at Henderson Hall, first floor. IDs are required for meals, library usage, and residence hall entry. Please make sure you have yours!
11 am - 12:45 pm: Chuckwagon: Lunch
Getting hungry? Well...gather your traveling party and navigate your way over to Rose Dining Room in Saint Joseph Hall for lunch. Family and friends are welcome!
Noon - 12:45 pm: Day Trippers: Commuters Welcome Session
Commuter students and their families should also head to Rose Dining Room to pack their lunch in "to go" containers to bring downstairs to your exclusive destination - Café Jose! Here you will be greeted by current commuting students who will help you get your bearings and plot your course accordingly.
1 - 1:30 p.m.: The Adventure Begins: Welcome
It's time for Explorientation! Lets get a move on!! All students and family members should trek on over to the Greek Theater for an official welcome! We know you're excited for what lies ahead; so ready, set, go!
1:30 - 4:30 pm: Amazing Race: Parent Orientation
It's time for family members to wander over to Dolan Performance Hall in Annunciation Center for a special session designed just for them! Lots of great information will be provided for you to help daughter chart her course so that together you will reach her ultimate destination - graduation! At this session we will provide you with tools and safety nets to help her survive the peaks and valleys, traverse the rocky roads, and enjoy the ever-widening horizons that are all a normal part of college life.
1:30 - 1:45 pm: Meet Your Guides: Team Gold Introductions
Stay right in the Greek Theater because it's time for you to meet your convoy of experienced students who will serve as your guides and safety nets through these exciting days of Orientation. Be prepared for a trail blazing good time!
2:00 pm - 2:30 pm: Recalibrating: Transfer Student Session
Transfer Students - follow your Team G.O.L.D. Leaders to Ward Dining Room in Saint Joseph Hall for this session designed to address your unique needs and concerns as you forge your way on a new path in your college career. In no time CSE will feel like your own happy homestead.
1:50 - 2:30 pm: Embarking On Your Journey: Icebreakers- First Year Students
It's not time to rest just yet! Follow your Team G.O.L.D Leaders as you hike over to your next interactive session. Get ready and energized for an awesome excursion with your team!
2:30 - 4:30 pm: Know The Ropes: Student Life Session- All Students
For CSE to start feeling like your own turf, you need to get involved. CSE is swarming with extra-curricular activities sure to please! make your way over to the Gym to unearth some great opportunities!
4:45 - 5:15 pm: Journeying On: New Beginnings Family Blessing
All families will be re-united at Holy Family Chapel for a final farewell blessing before families depart for their base camps and new students embark on their new solo voyage. However, we know that here at CSE, no one ever travels alone. This beautiful ecumenical blessing will thank God for bringing us together and guiding us on our shared journey. All are welcome!
5:15 pm: Heading Home: Parents Depart Campus
5:30 - 6:00 pm: Chuckwagon: Dinner
Dinner in Rose Dining Room in Saint Joseph Hall. *Remember to sit with your team.*
6:30 - 7:30 pm: Creating Your Artifacts: Team Projects
Point your compass towards McGuire Lounge in Saint Joseph Hall and get ready to take part in one of the most popular activities in our Orientation Program: the Team Projects!
7:30 pm: Rules Of The Expedition: Residence Life
Come meet with the Res. Life Company to learn the laws of the land and community living. If you're a resident or a commuter camping out with us, you must attend this session right on your residential floor! Commuters departing for the night are free to hit the trail, but be sure to remember your trail maps so that you can reconvene with us tomorrow morning!

9:00 am - 9:30 am: Evacuating The Digs: Fire Drill
Great explorers are always prepared for cave-ins and mudslides! Follow the directives of the Res. Life Company this morning to help run an evacuation drill in the residence halls. After you meet your Community Assistant at your meeting spot you'll be fully prepared to evacuate a residence hall in an emergency!
9:30 am - 10:00 am: Chuckwagon: Breakfast

10:30 am - 3:30 pm: Destination Celebration: "The Spirit of New Jersey" Boat Cruise w/ Lunch
Are you ready to toss your maps and rucksacks and let loose for a while!? Bring your dancing shoes and get ready to rock the rapids and raise the tides for a cruise around Manhattan. This not-to-be-missed event includes music, lunch, dancing, and an extraordinary view of the Statue of Liberty from the lookout post! The buses leave promptly from the front of Saint Joseph Hall. Remember to bring your camera!
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Steer Clear Of Hazards: Emergency Preparedness
No need for an S.O.S. after participating in this important workshop concerning campus safety and emergency preparedness. Gather round Dolan Performance Hall so you won't be left in the dark when the unexpected occurs.

From destinations near and far, your paths have led you all to CSE. However, each of you has made the journey from a land all your own, somewhere special, and you uniqueness brings variety and richness to CSE. This session in the Flexible Classrooms in Annunciation Center will explore your diversity so be prepared to broaden your horizons and learn more about one another.
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm: The Trading Post: Service Project
Hunker down and join the Director of the Center of Volunteerism and Service-Learning in McGuire Lounge for a very special CSE tradition: the annual Orientation Community Service Project. Share your time and talents as you prepare gifts from the heart to "trade" with others less fortunate.

You don't have to live in the rainforest to appreciate the ways that CSE is going green. In the Flexible Classrooms in the Annunciation Center you will learn ways to reduce waste and help keep our campus sustainable for generations of explorers, just like you, to come!
