Dr. Dianne DeLong, PhD, RN, CNE, is the new chair of the Nursing Program of the College of Saint Elizabeth. She came to CSE from Cedar Crest College in Pennsylvania. She has been in the field of nursing for over thirty years. Dr. DeLong brings a special understanding to the upper division nursing program. She is a diploma graduate from Allentown Hospital School of Nursing and returned to Kutztown University for her BSN. With her passion toward education, she continued and received her MSN in nursing from Villanova University and completed her PhD in higher education leadership at Capella University.
Dr. DeLong holds certification as a Nurse Educator. She has been an educator for over twenty years teaching at all levels of nursing education. Administratively, her experience encompasses preparation for professional accreditation and work in curriculum and institutional research. She is a member of the American Nurse Association, National League of Nursing, and Sigma Theta Tau. This past June she presented her research focus on “Nursing Educational Leadership” at the Drexel University Nursing Education Institute.
Dr. DeLong recognizes the importance of education. She noted, “Continuing your education is important, as far as nursing you never know where you may go.” Her interests in areas of education include curriculum development as well as assessment of learning and leadership. She states, “I have always had a passion for the field of nursing and I love the fact that I can also experience it in practice and as an educator. This position here at the college allows me to use my background in both an administrative setting and as an instructor.”
The College of Saint of Elizabeth welcomes her as their new Nursing Chairperson.
