King named NEAC & Screaming Eagle student-athlete of the week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in the sports of men’s and women’s swimming for the period ending November 13, 2011.

Matt Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y.) has been selected as the NEAC Men’s Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row after another tremendous performance for the Wells College Express.  The sophomore swimmer had four first-place finishes during the Express’ dual against Utica College this past Saturday, winning the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.43), the 50-yard freestyle (0:23.66) and the 100-yard freestyle (0:52.37) in individual competition, while also being a part of the four-man crew that took first place in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:39.87). 

Kristin King (Denville, N.J.) has been named the NEAC Women’s Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance for the College of Saint Elizabeth Screaming Eagles.  King, a senior, took first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:49.43 and in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:22.21 during the Eagles’ dual against Notre Dame of Maryland University this past Saturday, while also being a part of the first-place team in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:54.84).  King also had a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.50.   

The Rest of the Week’s Highlights: Gallaudet University sophomore DJ Everton-Lovell (Norfolk, Va.) finished first in both the 200-yard IM (2:17.76) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:28.92) to help the Bison defeat NEAC rival SUNY Cobleskill Saturday … Wells College junior Idolyn Villiotti (Amherst, N.H.) had two first-place finishes during the Express’ dual against Utica College Saturday, winning the 100-yard backstroke (1:12.63) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:13.95) … Gallaudet University sophomore Alyssa Gleason (Springfield, Va.) took second place in the 200-yard backstroke (2:49.43) and third place in the 200-yard freestyle (2:30.86) during the Bison’s dual against Cobleskill Saturday.
