CSE Slams Valley Forge

The College of St Elizabeth's softball team finally broke out of their hitting slump, beating Valley Forge 14-4 and 25-7 on Sunday.

The Eagles wasted no time in game one, jumping out to an early 1-0 lead behind Christina Scolaro's RBI double. Sharolin Sanders followed that up with an RBI single up the middle, giving the Eagles a 2 run lead. The Eagles would add 3 more runs in the inning, leading 5-0 after the top of the first. CSE picked things up again in the 3rd inning when Sanders lined another RBI single up the middle. With the bases loaded, Nicole Morera scorched a double down the line, scoring all 3 base runners and giving the Eagles a 9-2 lead.

In the top of the 4th inning, Valarie Lasko lined a single up the middle, driving in 2 more runs. Leading 12-4 in the top of the 5th, Nicole Morera crushed a lead off home run over the left field fence. The Eagles would add more run in the inning, beating Valley Forge in game one, 14-4. Christina Scolaro pitched a complete game giving up 8 hits and 3 earned runs.

In game 2, the Eagles kept the hits coming. Christina Scolaro got the Eagles on the board lacing a triple in the gap, scoring Lasko. A few batters later, Alessandria DeSapio lined a hit to right filed, driving in 2 runs. Nicole Morera would add a 2 run single of her own, blowing the game open at 8-0. The Eagles would add 2 more runs in the inning, taking a 10-0 lead into the bottom of the 1st inning. In the bottom of the first, Danesha Triplett pitched a scorless inning giving up just 1 hit.

Following a lead off double by DeSapio, Triplett belted her first career home run, giving the Eagles a 12-0 lead. Later in the inning, Triplett blasted another home run, this time a 3 run homer, blowing the game wide open. The Eagles would add another run in the inning and take a 19-0 lead into the bottom of the 2nd inning. CSE would add 6 more runs in the top of the 3rd inning, winning the game 25-7.

The Eagles finished with 25 runs and 25 hits, both season highs for CSE. Danesha Triplett finished with 3 hits, including 2 home runs and 6 RBI's. Kayla Gonzalez added 4 hits and 5 RBI's. The Eagles improve to 5-13 on the season.
