GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in the sports of men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and women’s volleyball for the period ending October 30, 2011.
Rachel Hausler (Lebanon Township, N.J.) has been named the NEAC Women’s Volleyball Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for her strong play for the College of Saint Elizabeth Screaming Eagles. The freshman libero racked up 65 digs in 15 games (4.33/game) and safely received 113 out of 114 volleyballs sent her way to help the Eagles to a 3-1 record last week. Hausler added 13 serve aces and three assists on the week.
Veronica Lubsen (Toms River, N.J.) has been named the NEAC Women’s Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week for her sensational performance for the College of Saint Elizabeth Screaming Eagles. In a conference dual against Cazenovia College Wednesday, Lubsen took second place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:27.85 and then immediately competed in the 50-yard freestyle, which she won with a time of 0:29.93. Lubsen, a senior, also placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:19.61.
