The Eagles extended their win streak to 6 straight, defeating SUNY Cobleskill 72-58 Friday night.
The Screaming Eagles jumped out to an early 13-2 lead, thanks to back to back buckets by Danesha Triplett. In her first game back from a concussion, Ashley Pledger knocked down a 3 pointer to extend CSE’s lead to 21-9. The defense once again was in top form, forcing 11 first half turnovers, due in large part to a full court press the Eagles showed.
Kelly O’Dell continued to establish her presence down low, grabbing 8 rebounds in the first half. Amerisee Rodgers added back to back buckets late in the second half to give the Eagles a double digit lead. CSE managed to close the half out strong, taking a 35-21 lead into halftime.
The second half started off as a struggle for the Eagles, CSE had trouble containing Cobleskill’s center, Shelby Preston, who finished the game with 23 points and 16 rebounds. Cobleskill managed to close the gap to 51-42 mid-way through the second half. The lead got trimmed as low as 6, before Pledger drained a clutch jumper to put the Eagles back up 57-49. The Eagles added on, going on a quick 7-1 run to open the lead to 14. Danesha Triplett capped off the win, scoring down low and drawing a foul, giving CSE a 72-58 win.
Kelly O’Dell finished 1 assist shy of her second triple-double of the season, finishing with 10 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 assists. Ashley Pledger added 17 points in her return to action. The Eagles improved to 9-4 on the season including 5-1 in the NEAC. CSE returns to action on Sunday when they travel to SUNYIT at 1 P.M.
