CSE tennis closes out season with victory over Medgar Evers

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Saint Elizabeth capped off the 2013 season on a sunny Thursday afternoon, cruising past nonconference opponent Medgar Evers by a team score of 9-0.

Traffic delayed the match and both agreed to play pro sets to get the competition completed before darkness crept in.

CSE swept the doubles competition, winning all three matches by 8-0 scores. Maame Quianoo and Brianne Clarke were winners at No. 1 doubles, Chiamaka Nwangwu and Amy Cooper paired up for a victory at No. 2 (their fifth together of the season), and Georgine Alexis paired with Emmanuella Dorcent to take the No. 3 matchup.

In singles action, Nwangsu won 8-0 at No 2 over Danielle Maragh and Cooper cruised past Marissia Granr 8-0. Quianoo earned her third singles victory in the No. 1 spot with an 8-1 decision over Roneke Brown.

Clarke was also among the double-winners by picking up an 8-1 win over Stephanie  Josephs at the No. 4 position.

Alexis picked up the win at No. 5 by topping Colleen Vogel from Medgar by a score of 8-1 while D’ara Wade rolled to victory 8-0 at No. 6 singles.

The Screaming Eagles concluded the 2013 season with a 2-9 overall record.
