The Eagles took a big first half lead and never looked back, beating Bryn Athyn 76-62 on Think Pink night Tuesday.
The Screaming Eagles showed some signs of playing a back to back early in the game. Bryn Aythn took an early 10-6 lead after forcing consecutive turnovers by the Eagles. Ashley Pledger got the Eagles going with nailing a 3 pointer to give the Eagles a lead at 16-15. Ashley continued her stellar first half, hitting back to back layups to open the Eagles lead up at 22-15. Bryn Athyn fought back to cut the lead to 5. Cheyenne Grant however, knocked down 2 straight buckets to reopen the lead, at 39-27. The Eagles closed out the half shooting 52% from the floor, and taking a 41-29 halftime lead.
The second half started off better for the Eagles. Cheyenne Grant knocked down a jumper to get within 2 points shy of 1,000 on her career. With 12:05 remaining in the half, Grant knocked down a 3 pointer to give her 1,001 points in her career. The game was stopped while Cheyenne was given flowers and took a picture with Coach Degenhardt. She also gave the Eagles their largest lead of the game at 56-41.
Kelly O’Dell added to the blowout as she stole the ball and took it up the court for an easy layup, giving the Eagles a 62-41 lead. Both teams would trade buckets for the rest of the half before Brianna Fedorich knocked down a jumper, to extend the lead to 73-54. The Eagles held on for the remaining 3:30 minutes, beating Bryn Aythn 76-62.
Kelly O’Dell finished with 7 points and 14 rebounds. Ashley Pledger added 20 points on the night. The Eagles return to action on Saturday when they travel to Morrisville, NY to take on Morrisville College at 1 P.M.
