Morristown, N.J. (February 18, 2015) – Family and friends joined CSE alumni, administration, faculty, and staff for a celebration of leadership among current students on February 10, 2015. Held in the Dolan Performance Hall, 25 students were recognized for going beyond the classroom to demonstrate leadership qualities through extra-curricular activities and service projects.
The keynote speaker, Susan McGlory-Michel '80, talked about her journey through the College of Saint Elizabeth and into her current career as CEO of a wealth management firm. Her firm, Glen Eagle Advisors in Princeton, N.J., has a motto; Faith, Family, Firm. Michel's keynote focused on balancing all three, her faith and values, raising her four children and starting her own investment firm. She lauded CSE for the values she learned as a student, including a lesson in balancing family and career and keeping each a priority.
"It is only through faith that I could do this," she explained. "God gave me my path and then supported my journey, such as saying goodbye to my oldest son who was about to deploy to the Middle East. I urge you to pursue the path that God puts in front of you with eagerness and faith."
CSE President Helen J. Streubert addressed the audience with an enthusiastic statement. "I have the best job ever – working with the great women and men who come to CSE to study."
She talked about how leadership requires responsibility and sometimes sacrifice, but it will all be worth it. "We will be watching you on your journey into your own personal greatness," she said.
The certificates of leadership were given by Michel and Winifred Markell-Johanson '67. The following were recognized:
