Morristown, NJ (November 14, 2014) – On Saturday, November 8, 2014, the Alumni Association's Annual Holiday Luncheon and Boutique brought over 100 graduates and their guests together in celebration of the College of Saint Elizabeth. The gathering held at the Morris County Golf Club featured veteran broadcaster and NJTV weeknight news anchor Mary Alice Williams as the guest speaker.
Williams delivered an informative, entertaining, and energizing talk. She reminded women of their contributions to society, business, and the world.
"We don't just solve problems," said Williams. "We build things ... families, communities, and companies. Today, for the first time in American history ... there are more women in the American workforce than men and the 2014 American Express OPEN State of Women-Owned Businesses Report shows there are 230,000 women-owned businesses in New Jersey employing 260,000."
In fact, there were more than 20 CSE graduates present who were business owners and entrepreneurs.
Williams also challenged the audience to demand a higher standard from journalists.
Said Williams: "Lowering the noise level and elevating the fact level is going to be crucial for journalists to be trusted. NJTV has committed to great journalism – to elevate the conversation between the viewer and journalist and give it just enough attitude to make it uniquely New Jersey."
She thanked all the "Jersey Girls" who were present and who continue to everyday build lives, business and support each other.
