CSE Music Professors Host Bach Concert on April 6

Morristown, N.J. (February 20, 2018) – For the second year in a row, eight music professors will celebrate Johann Sebastian Bach's 333rd birthday with a concert of his music in Dolan Performance Hall in Annunciation Center on campus at 7:00 pm on April 6. The concert is free for all.

Dr. Frances Covalesky (piano), Dr. John Gavalchin (piano), Prof. Suji Kim (cello), Prof. John Kizzie (guitar), Prof. Kris Lamb (flute and recorder), Dr. Angelika Nair (mezzo-contralto), Prof. Diane Perry (violin) and Dr. Vincent Rufino (clarinet), will perform various solo and collaborative pieces as part of the Bach in the Subways celebration.

Cellist Dale Henderson started the tradition by playing music of Bach in the subways of New York, not for money nor accolades, but rather as pure homage to the master of the Baroque Period on or about his natal day.

The program will include the Italian Concerto in F Major for piano, BWV 971; Bach Cello Suite #1 BWV 1007 transcription for guitar; Qui sedes ad dexteram Patris from the B minor Mass, no. 10 for voice, Trio Sonata in G-Major, BWV 1038 for flute, violin, and cello; Sinfonia from Cantata 156 and Allegro from Flute Sonata in E transcribed for clarinet; and the lyrical and expressive Ave Maria, Prelude in C major BWV 846, Johann Sebastian Bach/Charles Gounod for cello and piano.
