Morristown, N.J. (May 7, 2015) – On May 5, 2015, five chemistry majors were formally inducted into the Sigma Zeta chapter of Gamma Sigma Epsilon.
Eliana Callejas '15, Maame Quainoo '16, Melanie Dodds '15, Raven Chapman '15, and Grace Bailey '17 all met GSE's requirements for having completed more than 16 hours of chemistry with a 3.2 GPA in the major classes and a 3.0 overall.
The inductees are members of the American Chemical Society and participate in activities of that chapter. Student inductees also are required to demonstrate participation in the chemistry and biochemistry program and be active in the campus community.
Eliana Callejas just presented her research at the student symposium of the American Chemical Society at FDU. The title of her presentation was "Determination of Ergosterol in Native and Invasive Soil and Leaf Samples: Investigating the Impact of Invasive Tree Species on the Forest Biosphere."
The advisor to the College of Saint Elizabeth Chapter, Sigma Zeta, is Kimberley Grant Laham, PhD, Professor of chemistry.
