Rose Dining Room Renovations Completed

Morristown, NJ (January 10, 2017) – The wait is finally over.

Rose Dining Room's renovations are finished, and students, faculty, and staff can enjoy a new dining area and new menu options provided by Parkhurst Dining. The renovations include a dining space with removable booths that seats 220 people, USB outlets, three television monitors, grab-and-go units, and automated window blinds. The dining hall's hours have also been expanded for the students' convenience.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 9, 2017 officially opened the renovated space, a project that was under construction since the first week of October.

The project, a $1.2 million capital investment, was finished on schedule and within budget, Jim Gerrish, the director of facilities, said.

"We're very happy with the design company HMC, Parkhurst, and that the whole project has come to fruition," he added.

CSE's recent 10-year contract with Parkhurst Dining includes their assistance with renovating the service and dining area. HMC, Inc. a millwork and design company, designed the dining hall's space. The Leegis Group, Inc., was the general contractor, and BrightSign, a digital signage media player, will stream the information on the television monitors.

The renovation process was collaborative, said Robert Loconsole, the general manager of dining services. Changes had to be made as the planning began, such as the switch from porcelain to vinyl flooring to withstand time and traffic.

Now it all comes down to the students, faculty and staff. Their feedback will be critical to determine whether further improvements are needed to provide positive experiences for future students. The feedback can be delivered through "text comments", a phone system in which anyone can send feedback directly to Loconsole's phone.

"We took the student community, faculty, and staff into consideration with this project," he said. "We had a big banner out front that said 'coming soon' ... and soon is now."
