Morristown, N.J. (March 1, 2016) – International student Blen Tesfay's internship with Atlantic Health System prepared her for the working world. The Ethiopian native was not only exposed to the dynamic health care industry, but also introduced to the active business and Information Technology (IT) aspects of the company.

Blen, a senior business administration major and computer science minor, found the internship opportunity at the College's 2015 Annual Women's Leadership Day.

"I was introduced to the Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Atlantic Health, Linda Reed," Blen explained. "I told her about my interests in project management and growing industries. She suggested health care, one of the fastest growing industries. I started the process of applying with her recommendation."

Blen interned in Atlantic Health's IT Project Management Office for five months during the Fall 2015 semester. She coordinated phases of IT projects under the supervision of her project manager; facilitated project meetings; set up agendas; established action items and interacted with vendors and customers; and provided assistance to other project managers in initiating, planning, developing and executing different software projects.

The internship was an unforgettable experience for Blen.

"It was my first time being exposed to the health care IT, so I got to learn multiple new things each day. I loved that."

Of all the valuable, hands-on experience Blen received, she was also able to better her communication, leadership and time and resource management skills.

Blen discovered CSE through online research. During her four years at the College, Blen has continually participated as a student leader. As a freshman and sophomore, she was treasurer for the International Intercultural Club (IIC), and she served on the Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Board her junior year.

"Both of these roles have enriched my experiences and made me a better leader," she said.

Blen will graduate May 2016. She is exploring career opportunities in the technology services industry, and plans to work in the States.
