Cross-Registration Gives CSE Students Larger School Resources

Morristown, N.J. (April 25, 2017) – Did you know that the College of Saint Elizabeth literally has the knowledge of three universities?

Through a partnership with Drew University and Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU), CSE students are able to take classes at any of the three campuses. This cross-registration also goes for Drew and FDU students looking to study at CSE.

"They have some classes that we don't offer," says Kassandra Ortiz, a CSE junior majoring in business and minoring in communication. Currently, she's taking two courses, Gender and Communication and Social Media, Communication and Community, at FDU because it's in walking distance of her dorm.

"The students get credit and grades," says Registrar Marybeth Obrycki. "It's just like taking a course here."

Except our students benefit from a greater pool of classes and if a required course isn't in rotation at CSE they can usually find it at Drew and FDU.

Jonadad Fequiere, a senior communication major, is currently taking News Editing at FDU which, "is a substitute for a course I was supposed to take [at CSE] but it wasn't offered in the spring. Luckily, FDU offers the class every semester!"

"It just makes degree completion easier and much faster," says Anthony Santamaria, the dean of arts and sciences. "It dramatically increases the options students have for courses at no [extra] cost to them. It's covered by tuition."

In addition to the educational benefit, cross-registration allows students to forge friendships with classmates on different campuses and exposes them to a variety of new perspectives.

"It pushes you out of your comfort zone," says Fequiere.

This cross-registration system enables students to get a small school feel while still having access to a larger school's resources.
