Information Systems Technology Recommendations

If you are bringing a desktop or laptop computer to the campus, the College recommends the following minimum specifications:Recommended Accessories:

Windows Operating Systems Machines

• Processor Speed: Minimum Processor: 2.0 GHz (Intel Core2 / Athlon X2) or better
• Operating Systems: Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2) or Windows 7
• Memory (RAM): 1 GB or higher
• Hard Drive: 80 GB or larger
• Networking: 10/100 network interface card and a category 5e Ethernet cable or a wireless network interface card that supports 802.11 a/b/g
• Antivirus Software: Norton Antivirus or McAfee Antivirus

Macintosh Machines

• Processor Speed: Intel Core2 at 2.0 GHz or better
• Operating Systems: OS X (10.6) - Snow Leopard
• Memory (RAM): 1 GB or higher
• Hard Drive: 80 GB or larger
• Networking: 10/100 network interface card and a category 5e Ethernet cable or a wireless network interface card that supports 802.11 a/b/g
• Antivirus Software: Norton Antivirus or McAfee Antivirus

In addition to your computer, the College recommends these technology items:

• Writeable CD or DVD drive
• USB memory stick for transferring files
• Computer/Laptop locks for added security
• Headphones
