Safety training and awareness is provided to each new student during the orientation period. Additional fire safety training and awareness is provided to all resident students during their initial stay in the dormitory. Fire drills are conducted periodically at the residence halls which are monitored by the local fire department.
The Safety Committee is a subcommittee of the College’s Emergency Task Force. This committee was established by the Dean of Students Office to address the changing safety needs of the campus community. Resident students are members of this committee. Some of the responsibilities of the Safety Committee include, but are not limited to:
• Providing programs throughout the academic year designed to educate the Campus Community on safety related matters;
• Providing an open forum wherein anyone may bring an issue to the Committee for discussion;
• Assessing the safety needs on campus;
• Working in conjunction with the Emergency Task Force and Student Life Committee on safety related matters;
. Planning and developing an annual Safety Fair involving not only students but faculty, staff and local emergency responders.
