Ann Fox Wolfe '09 Mother Xavier Award 1966        A native of Philadelphia, Ann grew up in Rochester, New York. A Latin major at CSE, she continued her studies after graduation in France and Germany, and graduated with a degree from the Columbia University School of Library Science. During World War I Ann served overseas with a French Speaking Unit of the Signal Corps. In the 1930's Anne helped found The League to Support Poetry, which helped keep the publication of poetry a going concern throughout the Great Depression. Ann herself had wide literary interests. She was a poet, essayist, and critic. Her writings appeared in Forum, New York Times, Atlantica, Social Science, McCall's, and Delineator. She was a book reviewer for the American Irish Historical Society, for the Saturday Review of Literature, the Chicago Tribune, and other publications. She also was a columnist for the Paris edition of the New York Herald Tribune. Ann was active in the Poetry Society of America, the Assembly of Captive European Nations, the Jewish Theological institute, and the Friends of the Philharmonic. She served on CSE's Board of Trustees. Ann holds an honorary degree from CSE, and she received the Mother Xavier Award in 1966.
