Mortarboard: From Print to Electronic; Same Great Content and Timelier Updates

Mortarboard: From Print to ElectronicThis year, you won’t have to chase down the latest issue of Mortarboard, the College’s newsletter for the campus community; it’s gone… digital.

Launched before 1970, the eight-page monthly publication has been offered as an electronic download, a PDF file, from the College’s website, www.cse.edu, since March 2004. Once an issue was printed, the electronic copy used by the printer was uploaded to its special section on the Web, www.cse.edu/mortarboard. Starting this September, Mortarboard will now exclusively be offered in an even more flexible electronic version, delivered each month right into your email inbox and available anytime on the Web at the same web address.

“We have been considering this move for a few months. In its new digital format, Mortarboard will still be composed of the same great content, but it will also allow the Office of Communication and Marketing staff to produce even timelier and more interactive coverage of our events on campus with color photos,” says Jeanine Hirsch, CSE vice president of Institutional Advancement.

CSE Website Passes the Million-Visit Cap in 2005/2006

In its fourth year of live operation, CSE website has generated 1,165,392 unique visits and four million page views. Between July 2005 and June 2006, the monthly page views’ average has increased by 45.6 percent up to 333,897, while the web visits’ average was following the same trend up to 97,116, 37.5 percent more visits than the previous year.

This record in web traffic proves the Web has become one of the communication channels of choice for CSE external and internal audiences. This positive trend has also been confirmed by noticeable increases, 17.7 percent on average, in the other website dashboard’s data points: online gifts, admission information requests, online applications, registered alumnae/i, etc.. These are tracked and measured for analysis of the performance of CSE web operations.
