The College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE) warmly welcomed a large music-loving audience to its special Valentine’s Day Concert on February 14, 2008 at the newly constructed Dolan Performance Hall at Annunciation Center on campus.

The evening’s performance featured Dr. Teresa Walters, renowned pianist chair of CSE Music Department, and friends of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra: Robert Ingliss, oboe; Kathleen Nester, flute; Jonathan Spitz, principal cello; and James Tsao, violin. The ensemble performed a special selection of romantic and other musical bonbons by Schumann, Faure, Massenet, Gaubert and other great composers.

Interestingly, this event attracted not only CSE students but also many couples from surrounding areas who decided to spend their Valentine’s Day evening listening to inspiring classical music instead of celebrating it with the more traditional approaches.

“We love music, so it was a perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day and spend some time with our daughter at the College,” said Louanne and Thomas Altonjy of Frelinghuysen, NJ, whose daughter, Alexandra, is currently a first-year student of the Women’s College.

The amazing performance surely left the audience with a powerful feeling of delight and satisfaction. Sponsored by CSE Lectures & Concerts Committee and Second Century Lectures and Concerts Series in honor of Sister Elena Francis Arminio, the Valentine’s Day Concert was one of the many exciting events that the College plans for this semester.
