New Computer Degree Offered at CSE

Students at the College of Saint Elizabeth registering for Spring 2008 classes, which starts on January 14, will have a new major to select from: a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Information Systems. The new program offers a balance between computing technology and the business world, with strong emphasis on the effective use of computers and information technology in solving problems in business.

It compliments another degree offered at CSE – a B.S. in Computer Science, which offers more in-depth knowledge of software methodology, basic architecture of computer hardware, and strong emphasis in theory and mathematics.

“We have expanded our computer offerings to reflect the needs of the business world,” said CSE Department Chair Dr. Jesse Yu. “The new Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Information Systems has a strong emphasis on business courses – accounting, marketing, finance and economics – and how computers are used in the business world. We are seeing a strong demand for these courses, and have high expectations for the program.”

Program courses are offered with the working adult’s schedule in mind – mainly in the evenings. In total, 51 credits are required for the CIS major, with part-time enrollment possible. For further information, please contact: Dr. Jesse Yu, (973) 290-4067 or log on to: www.cse.edu/adultprograms.
