Executive Director of NJ Commission on Holocaust Education Receives Prestigious Award from CSE, Nov. 5, 2007
On Monday, November 5, the College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE), Morristown, N.J. will bestow upon New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education’s Executive Director Dr. Paul B. Winkler its prestigious Caritas Award for his efforts in genocide and prejudice reduction.
Hosted by the College of Saint Elizabeth Holocaust Education Resource Center, the award presentation, which is part of the College’s day long conference, “Memory and Memorializations: What, Why and How Do We Remember? – Lessons from the Holocaust,” will take place during its afternoon session entitled, “The Role of the Classroom in the Process of Memory,” from 2:30 – 4 p.m. in Annunciation Center – CSE new arts and education building.
Dr. Harriet Sepinwall, CSE professor of Education and co-director of its Holocaust Education Resource Center, is delighted in recognizing Dr. Winkler’s accomplishments. “Dr. Winkler has been an outstanding advocate in New Jersey and the nation for meaningful Holocaust and genocide education. Over the past 25 years, his influence has enhanced teacher training and programming in exceptional ways. He reminds us of the dangers of indifference, and of the need to remember the Holocaust and to use its ‘lessons’ to prevent prejudice, hatred, racism and genocide today and in the future.”
