CSE Seeks Generations of the Shoah: College to Pay Homage to Past Participants at 18th Week of Holocaust Remembrance, Nov. 5, 2007
As the College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE), prepares to mark 18 years of its Week of Holocaust Remembrance, its Holocaust Education Resource Center (HERC) is extending a special invitation to Holocaust survivors and to the children of survivors in the Second Generation who have participated in previous remembrance programs at CSE. The College will honor these special individuals at its 18th annual Kristallnacht Commemoration, on Monday, November 5 at 7:30 p.m.
“We are searching for those who shared with us their memories of living through the Holocaust,” said Dr. Harriet Sepinwall, CSE professor of Education and co-director of CSE HERC. “The College wants to acknowledge their contributions in teaching our students about the Holocaust and its realities and legacy. Since this will be our 18th year of reflecting and preserving these incredible stories, it is our hope that they join us in celebration of life (‘chai’). They will light candles in memory of those who perished during the Holocaust.”
Those interested are encouraged to get in touch with Dr. Sepinwall at either 973-290-4351 or hsepinwall@cse.edu.
Since 1990, many Holocaust survivors and their children have been invited to the College’s Week of Holocaust Remembrance. Dr. Sepinwall states that “as an institution of higher learning, the College of Saint Elizabeth is deeply committed to educating future generations about the brutality that humankind inflicted upon itself, and ensuring that such events will never take place again.”
