CSE Receives Approval for New Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership



The College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE), 2 Convent Road, Morristown, has received approval from the NJ Commission on Higher Education for a new doctoral program in Educational Leadership, Ed.D., which will begin in August 2007.

 
Applications for the three-year program are now available on line at www.cse.edu/apply. Open houses to detail program specifics are scheduled for May 24, June 6 and 7 at Saint Joseph Hall on the College campus, beginning at 5:30 p.m.  To register, call Kathleen Melilli, program coordinator for Graduate Education Offsite Programs at CSE at (973) 290-4374.          
“This new program is designed to meet the need for globally conscious and morally purposeful school administrators who can move up to school district leadership positions and lead high-performance learning communities,” said Dr. John Crews, interim dean for the School of Graduate and Continuing Students at CSE. “There is already an incredible amount of interest in this new program and we have high expectations for its success,” he said.
Key features of the program include:
• 54-credit cohort program over a three-year period
• Year three is devoted to completion of an action research dissertation
• Students working collaboratively to develop research-based solutions to educational problems
• Meets NJ requirements for certification as school administrator (i.e. superintendent)
• Aligned with the NJ Professional Standards for School Leaders (NJPSSL)
• Personal attention with class times that fit with work schedules
• Highly experienced, caring faculty
