The College of Saint Elizabeth’s lacrosse team dominated the Phoenix of Wilson, winning 10-1 on Thursday.
The Eagles got off to a hot start vs Wilson, scoring the first goal of the game thanks to a nifty move by Kelly O’Dell. Nicole Rios and Dana Mortensen both scored 50 seconds apart, giving the Eagles a 3 goal lead. Mortensen added another goal shortly after, opening the lead to 4. Brianna Fedorich and Christina Rios added back to back goals of their own, blowing the game open at 6-0. The Eagles would added 3 more goals before Kelly O’Dell scored the goal of the game, putting it in the net as the first half timer expired, giving the Eagles a 10-0 lead at half.
Wilson College got on the board in the second half, scoring the first goal of the half at the 20:56 mark. Sarah Briant was dominant in net for the Eagles, saving 3 of the 4 shots on goal. The defense was also came up big for the Eagles, as CSE out shot Wilson 31-11. The Eagles controlled the ball for the majority of the second half even though they didn’t score a goal. CSE ended up defeating Wilson 10-1.
Before the game, President Helen Streubert took part in an honorary draw control as part of her inauguration week. The Eagles return to action on Saturday for Senior Day when they host Penn St Berks at 1 pm.
