Juliene Brazinski Simpson Honored at the University of Rochester

The College of St Elizabeth’s Director of Athletics Juliene Brazinski Simpson was honored at the University of Rochester over the weekend as part of “Women’s Sports History Month.”

Simpson, Co-Captain of the 1976 Olympic Women’s Basketball team and Olympic Women’s Head Basketball Coach Billie J. Moore was presented with a plaque that was hung in the gym to honor the team.  The 1976 U.S. Olympic Basketball Team practiced at the Palestra at the University of Rochester for one week in July 1976 before heading to the Summer Games in Montreal.  The team won a silver medal in the 1976 Summer Olympic Games.

The events took place at the Georgen Athletic Center on the campus of the University of Rochester.  Some of the events that took place included a women’s networking event, attended by students, athletes, coaches, and faculty. The networking event was followed by a panel discussion “40 years of Title IV.” The evening concluded with a reception attended by female alumni who were student-athletes at the University.
