The Screaming Eagles softball team dropped a doubleheader to Brooklyn College, 3-2 and 10-2 on Thursday night.
In the first game, the Eagles saw themselves fall behind early. The Bulldogs from Brooklyn got out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to RBI singles from Amanda Bisz and Maria Mantagas. Christina Scolaro, on the mound for the Eagles, settled down after the first inning. She threw 5 straight scoreless innings to keep the Eagles in the game.
The Eagles remained scoreless until the top of the 6th inning before Nicole Morera drove in Julie Rodriguez, cutting the lead to 2-1. The next batter, Alesandria DeSapio, lined a single up the middle, scoring Valerie Lasko and tying the score up at 2. The Bulldogs managed to score a run in the bottom of the 7th inning, winning in walk off fashion 3-2.
In game 2, the Bulldogs jumped right out of the gate, jumping out to a commanding 8-0 in the first inning. The Eagles struggled at the plate, tallying just 2 hits through the first 4 innings. In the 5th inning, the Eagles finally got on the board thanks to an RBI single by Nicole Morera. The Eagles added 1 more run in the inning, cutting the lead to 8-2. Brooklyn added 2 more runs in the bottom of the the inning, winning the game 10-2.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday when they travel to Wilson College at 1 pm.
