On Wednesday, September 18, 2013, the team spirit of the College and Academy of Saint Elizabeth was tangible as athletes, fans and donors alike gathered for the official dedication and blessing of the new soccer and lacrosse field located on the Morristown campus. "The new facility is made possible through generous alumnae donations and an ongoing collaborative partnership among the College of Saint Elizabeth, the Sisters of Charity and the Academy of Saint Elizabeth," said Sister Ellen Dauwer, member of the Council Leadership Team of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth.

The field features natural grass sod, beautiful block retaining walls, aesthetically pleasing landscaping, and an underground irrigation system. It completes a shared athletic sports complex which includes a regulation softball field and six hard tennis courts.
"In the true spirit of our campus community, we were able to combine our resources and provide a long-awaited and significant space for soccer and lacrosse student athletes to practice and host home-team games," said College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE) President Dr. Helen J. Streubert. "This long-time dream of the College is now a wonderful reality, one that enhances our students' experiences as our athletic department continues to grow. We are delighted to provide yet another avenue of opportunity for our students to flourish in mind, body and spirit."
CSE staff and students view the field as a win-win for everyone. "The new field strengthens CSE's thriving intercollegiate athletics program that is geared to developing strong, dedicated athletes who are committed to fair play, skillful competition and academic success," said CSE Athletic Director Juliene Simpson, who serves as Senior Woman Administrator on the Executive Committee of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Board of Athletics Directors.
"The investment in our new facilities demonstrates how valuable we think these programs are on the development of CSE student athletes," added CSE Dean of Admission Donna Tatarka. "We look forward to the many games that will be played there and the spirit of competition our campus community will share as we cheer on the CSE Screaming Eagles!
Athletes are equally excited, and look forward to having a true advantage. "As a soccer and lacrosse player, I am thankful and excited to be playing on our home field, supported by friends and family at CSE," said Dana Mortensen, '15, CSE Elementary/Special Education and English major, noting that in the past, the "home field" was in Somerset and inaccessible to many fans.
As a NCAA Division III college, CSE offers eight women's varsity intercollegiate sports including: basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball. The College is also a member of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference comprising Division I, II, and III institutions across the East Coast as well as a member of the prestigious NEAC.
