The College of Saint Elizabeth had a strong start before falling to Keuka College, 20-2 on Friday.
After falling behind 1-0, Kelly O’Dell continued her hot shooting, scoring a free position goal and tying the score up at 1. Nicole Rios quickly followed with a goal of her own, giving the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Sarah Briant continued her stellar play in goal, saving a key free position shot to hold a 1 goal lead. The defense kept up the solid play throughout the half, denying Keuka for over 20 minutes. With 7:27 remaining in the half, Keuka put a goal passed Briant, tying the score up at 2. Keuka added another goal with just over 4 minutes remaining to take a 3-2 lead late in the first half. Keuka managed to add 6 more goals in the final 4 minutes to take a 9-2 lead into the break.
Keuka continued right where they left off, scoring a goal in just 12 seconds, giving them a 9 goal lead. Keuka added 2 more goals shortly after, opening up an 11 goal lead. The Eagles struggled on offense in the second half, getting just 2 shots on goal in the half. Keuka ended up adding 7 more goals and defeating CSE 20-2.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday when they host Wells College at 1 pm.
