The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team lost a double header at Penn St Abington, 10-2 and 10-1 on Friday.
The Eagles got on the board in the top of the 1st inning thanks to an RBI ground out by Nicole Morera, scoring Valerie Lasko. Christina Scolaro, on the mound for the Eagles, pitched a scoreless first inning. The second inning did not go as well for CSE, giving up 5 runs in the inning. In the 5th inning, Scolaro ripped a single up the middle scoring Lasko, cutting the lead to 6-2. The Eagles however could not get any closer, dropping the contest 10-2.
In game 2, the Eagles got out in front again when Nicole Morera lined a single into left field scoring Valerie Lasko. The Nittany Lions answered in the bottom of the first, scoring a run and tying the score at 1. Things fell about in the 4th inning for the Eagles. Trailing 3-1, Penn St scored 7 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning, taking a 10-1 lead. The Eagles were unable to score any runs in the 5th, dropping the game 10-1 in 5 innings.
The Eagles drop to 3-11 on the season and 0-6 in the NEAC. CSE returns to action on Saturday when they host Abington at 1 pm.
