Saint Elizabeth swimming out-touches New Rochelle, seniors honored

Morristown, N.J. – CSE senior Kristin King picked up two individual victories as the Screaming Eagles out- touched the College of New Rochelle, 54-36, in a dual meet on Sunday afternoon.  The Screaming Eagles (3-5) picked up their third win of the season after competing in a tri-meet against conference opponents Gallaudet University and Cazenovia College the day prior.

Prior to the meet, the athletic department honored three senior swimmers: Shannon Tipton, Mary Karkos and Kristin King.  They were each presented with flowers and balloons in honor of their dedication and commitment over the last four years.

The Screaming Eagles won the 200 yard medley relay to kick-off the meet with a time of 2:18.59.  The relay team included Ashley Sicsko, Maria Corall, Jennifer Scully and Alesandria DeSapio.  King finished first in the 1000 freestyle with nearly a minute to spare before opponents finished. Corall finished first in the 200 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly.  Jennifer Scully had her third collegiate victory in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 30:15.

Saint Elizabeth went on to win the next two events but New Rochelle’s Kathie-Lee Rickman won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:16.78.  Mary Karkos finished just behind her to claim second place.

King’s final individual event would seal the win when she placed first in the 100 yard backstroke.

The Eagles swim in their last road meet this weekend at SUNY Cobleskill at 1 p.m. before preparing for the conference championships in mid-February.
