The College of St Elizabeth's lacrosse team dropped a tough out of conference game at SUNY Maritime, 13-5 on Wednesday.
Kelly O'Dell got the scoring going early for the Eagles, blasting a shot past Maritime just 1:30 into the game, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The Pioneers from Maritime quickly answered, scoring 4 straight goals, leading to a timeout by CSE. Following the timeout, Christina Rios put the ball past the Pioneers' keeper, cutting the lead to 4-2. Maritime added 2 more goals and giving them a 6-2 lead heading into the half.
The second half did not start the way the Eagles had hoped. The pioneers quickly added 3 more goals to give them a 10-2 lead with 17 minutes remaining in the game. O'Dell got the Eagles on the board in the second half, ripping a shot in the net, and cutting the lead to 10-3. O'Dell and Rios both added another goal each before the Eagles dropped the game 13-5.
Kelly O'Dell added her second hat trick of the season, finishing with 3 goals. Christina Rios added 2 goals for the second straight game. Sarah Briant finished with 3 saves in net for the Eagles.
