MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Saint Elizabeth sophomore Valerie Lasko had a base hit and eight putouts in the outfield but visiting Penn State-Berks took two games from the Screaming Eagles in a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
Penn State Berks (16-2, 4-0 NEAC) earned an 11-0 victory in the first game and cruised to a 15-3 win in the second contest.
In game one, PSU-Berks raced out to a 9-0 lead after three innings. Saint Elizabeth (4-3 , 0-3 NEAC) could not answer until Lasko singled to right field. She stole second base but Saint Elizabeth could not bring her home.
Over the next two innings, Penn State Berks would not allow a hit and lead 11-0, and the game came to an end in just five innings.
Penn State Berks took the lead again in the second game, scoring six runs in the first two innings. Saint Elizabeth rallied back in the third inning with a hit from freshman pitcher Katrina Kenny. Berks would answer with another three runs that inning.
After two walks, senior Catherine Eber singled to left field and then advance an error by the left fielder as both Kelly O’Dell and Madellyn Rodriguez crossed home plate. Freshman Karina Garcia added the final hit for CSE driving home classmate Ashley Pledger.
Eber (2-2) and Kenny (2-2) both suffered losses in the circle for CSE.
