InterCampus Borrowing (FDU)

CSE students, faculty and staff are granted borrowing privileges to books from Fairleigh Dickinson University's libraries.
(E-books, videos, DVDS and journals may not be borrowed)

FDU's two main libraries are the Florham-Madison Campus Library (referred to as the Madison Library in Coolcat, and adjacent to CSE campus) and the Giovatto Library in Teaneck, NJ (1-hour drive from CSE).

You may go directly to an FDU library or you may request via CoolCat that the book be sent to CSE's Mahoney Library. For FDU library hours and directions, see our Nearby Libraries page.

Request Books in CoolCat

In Coolcat, open up the record of the book you would like to request. Click on the “Request Item” button above the record.
Type in your library barcode number in the appropriate box, select CSE in the institution field, type in your last name in the bottom field and click on the “Login” button. Click on the “OK” button on the next screen.
On the final screen, confirm the book information is correct, select CSE Circulation Dept. as your “Pick Up At” location, fill in the rest of the information and click on the “Submit request button”.

Your request has now been sent to FDU. Your book should arrive at Mahoney Library in a couple of days.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If we do not have the book or journal article that you need, please submit a request using the forms below. Our ILL Librarian will find the items that you need and borrow them on your behalf from any library willing to lend them.

This is a free service for CSE students, faculty and staff. In rare cases the lending library may charge a fee; however, we do exhaust all alternatives, and if a fee-based loan is the only option, we do not borrow the item without first getting your consent to the fee charged. Please allow 1-4 weeks for delivery.

Direct Borrowing Options

VALE Reciprocal Borrowing Program:

Undergraduate and graduate students and full-time faculty/staff have privileges under the VALE Reciprocal Borrowing Program to visit and borrow directly from participating NJ college and university libraries.

ALA Form:

Students or faculty/staff willing and able to travel to the lending library may pick up an ALA Form at the Mahoney Library reference desk. Once you've filled out the form, indicating which book(s) you are seeking to borrow, and gotten signed approval from one of our librarians, you may take the form to the lending library to pick the book up yourself.
