Faculty and staff may schedule a research instruction session by submitting the form below. Indicate your preferred dates, time, and location. Request your session at least 2 weeks in advance. Note that instructors are required to attend the session with their students.

  General Databases Searching - 20 minutes
(covers basics of searching using a general database like Academic Search Premier, including developing a search strategy, identifying keywords, narrowing topics, and subject/title searches.)

(covers techniques for searching subject-specific databases.)

(how to tell if the information you have found is worth using and including in your research)
  The Basics of Using RefWorks - 20 minutes
(covers how to set up an account, create folders, customize your settings, direct export from a database to RefWorks, and generating a quick bibliography)
  Using RefWorks, Beyond the Basics - 2.5 hours
(reviews basics if needed and covers additional methods for getting references into RefWorks when there is no direct export function, attaching/getting back to the full text, and using Write-N-Cite to format your in-text citations and generate a bibliography.)
