Program Offerings

The Foods and Nutrition program offers a solid foundation in science and the liberal arts, and approaches the food and nutritional needs of individuals in a holistic manner. Our courses of study emphasize evidence-based practices, ethical leadership, social responsibility, service to the community and lifelong learning. The program offers a B.S. in Foods and Nutrition; an online M.S. in Nutrition, and various certificates in Nutrition and Dietetics.

    1. Online courses, with some electives offered as accelerated weekend courses

    1. Focuses on ecological public health strategies
    2. Enables students to plan and implement regional public health programs

  • Dietetic Internship Program

    1. Can be taken full or part time
    2. Provides 1,200 hours of supervised practice and 250 hours of required coursework
    3. Supervised practice areas include Clinical Dietetics, Departmental Management, and Community Nutrition

    1. Prepares students for positions as personal trainers and fitness instructors
    2. Courses in Sports Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Sports Psychology, and Fitness Assessment

Outcomes

With a variety of degree and certificate choices, students in the Foods and Nutrition program are able to focus on a particular area within the field. With numerous ties to local institutions and established internships in the area, students are also able to gain experience in the field. Faculty and staff are supportive members of the program and often act as lifelong mentors to students.

Our graduates can be found in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, the food industry, as food writers, in education, community and public health agencies, and in the areas of nutrition counseling, corporate wellness and fitness. Many graduates complete the program requirements to become Registered Dietitians.
