Title: Adjunct Music Faculty
John Kizzie came to the classical guitar comparatively later than most classical guitarists. As most young men, he started on electric guitar and played in rock, jazz, and rhythm and blues music. However, while working on his Bachelor’s degree in music, he switched to the classical guitar. He has performed solo and ensemble recitals on stages around the country, and he has studied with some of the most well known classical guitarists in the world. John studied extensively with Manuel Barrueco at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore. He has recently released a solo recording entitled “Art that Echoes” which features pieces well-known in the classical guitar canon, and he has released a compact disc with his wife, Amy, entitled “One by Six”. John is currently working on his second solo project in which he will feature several original selections he wrote for the classical guitar.
In addition to numerous solo performances, John performed the Concerto de Aranjuez with the Raritan Valley Symphonic Orchestra. He is currently teaching guitar at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey and he is the proprietor of the Guitar Lesson Spot in Princeton
