The unique mission of the Gerontology Career-oriented Minor and Certificate Program is to educate bothWomen's College and Continuing Studies students about aging, the aged, and life in an aging society with a view to enhancing students'preparation for careers in the aging network, and/or for volunteer work and caregiving services.
It is possible to complete all six courses within two academic years. Except for GERO 411 which is a one full day-a-week field placement, all courses, including GERO 411's one-hour seminar, are scheduled at night.
All students should meet with the Director prior to registering for the Gerontology Program. It is recommended that Women's College students begin the minor in the fall of their sophomore year, but it is possible to begin in the fall of their junior year. Continuing Studies students are advised to discuss their plans for completing the program with the Director.
